Aims

This course is designed to ensure that staff are aware of the risks of using hand tools. It will promote safe working practices when using these tools through the use of power operated and manual hand tools. It will provide you with the necessary skills, knowledge and techniques to identify hazards with power and hand tools and operate these safely.

Structure

This half day course is delivered in a study environment with practical examples of hand and power tools introduced.

Content

The course covers:
- Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations
- Pre-Use Checks and Settings and Adjustments
- Electrical Safety
- Demonstration of Practical Skills
- Written Assessment.

Career Opportunities

This course does not lead directly to a specific career but it will enhance the skills of those who will be using hand or power tools in the workplace by meeting the legal requirements for their use.

Progression

You may choose to undertake one of a selection of other Health and Safety courses available.

Entry Requirements

Knowledge of types of operation of a range of hand and power tools is desirable but not essential.
