Aims

Whether using ladders, scaffolding, lifts, platforms, trestles or other place a person could be injured falling from it this course can provide knowledge of legislation and provide practical skills and techniques to work safely. This course is intended for those people who will be required to work at height and for their supervisors, to enable them to do so safely and with an understanding of the legislation. It is of great importance as falls from height remain the single biggest cause of workplace deaths and one of the main causes of major injury.

Structure

This is a short course which can be completed in one day. It is delivered on demand throughout the year at Carnegie College, or in the workplace as requested.

- Company Procedures
- Selection of Equipment
- Inspection and Testing Requirements
- Practical Use of Equipment
- Safe Handling and Storage.

Career Opportunities

This course is designed for individuals and groups whose employment requires an understanding of working at height safely, within the workplace. It is created to enhance the skills of people in employment rather than lead to new employment opportunities.

This is one of a range of Health and Safety courses which candidates could progress to as part of a wider personal development plan.

Entry Requirements

Participants must demonstrate a positive attitude to learning and safety. There is no requirement to provide evidence of other qualifications or skills.
