Aims

This course is applicable to all managers, supervisors and those responsible for implementing Health and Safety Policy in the workplace.

All managers and supervisors have a responsibility for implementing Health and Safety Policy in the workplace and it is the employers' responsibility to ensure employees, supervisors and managers have sufficient knowledge to carry out their duties. It is designed to provide managers and supervisors with the knowledge to implement a Health & Safety Policy, understand the legislation and their responsibilities, to initiate and implement accident prevention methods, and develop a safety culture.

Structure

The Health and Safety for Managers and Supervisors course is delivered either as a three-day block or one day per week over three weeks and is available throughout the year. This course can be delivered in house at our Rosyth Campus or on site at the company's premises. The content of the course can also be tailored to your company's needs.

- The Role of the Manager/Supervisor with regard to Health
and Safety
- Risk Assessment
- Legislation
- Hazards and Controls
- Accident Investigation and Reporting
- Assessment and Evaluation.

Career Opportunities

This course opens new opportunities for managers with the responsibility for implementing Health and Safety policy in the workplace. It expands the skills of existing managers enabling them to effectively employ Health and Safety policies and could provide opportunities for promotion.

Progression

Taken as part of a development course candidates may also choose to undertake a variety of courses specific to their job role.

Entry Requirements

Candidates should be in managerial or supervisory roles and have a responsibility for implementing Health and Safety Policy in the workplace. There is no requirement to provide evidence of qualification or skills.
