Employee Safety Awareness (Workshop Environment)

Aims

Every employee has a responsibility for Health & Safety and this course provides participants with the knowledge to reduce risk to themselves and others within the workshop.

On completion of the course, participants will be aware of their legal obligations, have an increased awareness of the controls necessary for safe working and be able to initiate and comply with emergency procedures.

Structure

This course can be delivered at Rosyth campus or on site at a company's premises. This is a one day course day to complete depending on the student's existing ability and understanding. It is delivered in a lecture room environment and is theory based.

Content

The course content can be tailored to accommodate company's specific needs. However, areas covered include should include:
- Legal and Organisational Requirements
- Hazards and Controls
- Display Screen Equipment
- Housekeeping
- Machinery
- Manual Handling
- Electricity
- Fire and Waste Disposal
- Emergency Procedures.

Progression

Candidates can progress to Risk Assessment and Accident Investigation and Reporting courses, offered at Carnegie College as part of their professional development.
