Aims
The principle aim of this course is to provide participants with a general understanding of fire safety. On completion the candidates will:
- Understand the Basic Chemistry of Fire
- Understand Fire Prevention Methods
- Recognise Emergency Procedures.
Structure
This is a short course which offers both theory and good-practice training. The course can be delivered on demand throughout the year, and is completed in 1/2 a day.

- Basic Chemistry of Fire
- Fire Prevention and Fire Safety Policy
- Compliance with the Law
- Fire Prevention Precautions
- Fire Systems and Equipment
- Action in the Event of Fire
- Specific Working Environment/Controls.

This course is designed for individuals and groups whose employment requires an understanding of fire safety, within the workplace. It is created to enhance the skills of people in employment rather than lead to new employment opportunities.
Progression
This is one of a range of Health and Safety courses which candidates could progress to as part of a wider personal development plan.
Entry Requirements
Participants must demonstrate a positive attitude to learning and safety. There is no requirement to provide evidence of other qualifications or skills.
