Working in Confined Spaces

Aims

This course provides participants with the information necessary for safe working in confined spaces. On completion of the course, participants will be able to understand the hazards and risks associated with confined spaces. You will also learn about implementation of controls required to reduce the risk of injury and compliance with emergency procedures.

Structure

This course can be delivered at the School of Engineering and Technology or on site at a company's premises. This course takes half a day to complete and is theory based. It is delivered in a lecture room environment.

- Legislation
- Risk Assessment
- Safe Systems of Work
- Personal Protective Equipment
- Management Responsibilities
- Emergency Procedures.

Career Opportunities

The Confined Spaces course is suitable for those responsible for workplace activity in environments where natural ventilation is not available.

Progression

Candidates can progress to Risk Assessment or general Health & Safety courses, as part of their professional development.

Entry Requirements

There is no requirement to provide evidence of prior qualifications or skills.
