Oil and Chemical Spillage
Aims
The aim of this short course is to provide participants with the information regarding legislation, (inc COSHH) hazards and risks, controls and practical safe working when dealing with minor oil or chemical spillages.
Structure
This course has a theoretical content and is delivered in a lecture room environment. The course takes half a day to complete, depending on the students existing ability and understanding. Students can start this course at any point during the year.

- Legislation, Health and Safety at Work Act
- Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations (COSHH)
- Hazards and Risks
- Personal Protective Equipment
- Controls to Ensure Safe Working
- COSHH assessment
- Health Surveillance
- Working in a Safe Manner.

This course is intended to benefit those working in any environment where they may be required to control minor spills of chemicals.
Progression
This can be undertaken as a stand alone course or as part of a wider programme on the management of Health and Safety in the workplace.
Entry Requirements
Candidates should be working in a role where they will benefit from the training in this course. There is no requirement to provide evidence of other qualifications or skills.
