Managing Safely (IOSH)

Aims

The aim of the course is to ensure that managers and supervisors understand that they are accountable and responsible for issues relating to H&S in the workplace. Candidates will be provided with the knowledge to assist decision making with regard to meeting legal and business requirements.

Structure

The course can be delivered in house at our School of Engineering & Technology in Rosyth, or on-site at your company's premises. Duration of course is 4 or 5 days and is designed for managers & supervisors. Students can start this course at any point throughout the year. There is a 45 minute written assessment and a work based project.

Content

Subjects covered will include:
Introducing Managing safely.
Assessing risks.
Controlling risks.
Understanding responsibilities.
Identifying hazards.
Investigating accidents and incidents.
Measuring performance, protecting our environment.

Career Opportunities

The course opens new opportunities for Managers & Supervisors to include Health & Safety Management as part of their role. It expands their existing skills and enables them to effectively deal with health & safety issues thus enhancing their portfolio for future promotion.

Progression

Taken as part of their CPD, participants may wish to follow the route to gain their NEBOSH General Certificate.

Entry Requirements

An awareness of health & safety issues would be an advantage but not essential.
