AimsThis training provides industry with a useful model for business process improvement. ISO 9001 identifies the internal audit process as a vital tool in the maintenance and continual improvement of a customer-focused, process-based Quality Management System (QMS).

Course Objectives
This SQMC course has been re-designed to be suitable for various types of organisations and has, as its basis, tried and tested material which has been regularly updated. It has been structured to provide practical and comprehensive training for the performance of complete QMS process audits and supplier assessments; in accordance with International Auditor Guidelines in the manufacturing, supply, and services industries in general.



The course content covers all of the Quality Management Systems standards in the ISO 9001:2008 series giving management guidance, as is ISO 19,011:2002. A comprehensive guide workbook is provided for class use and future reference.

Course Programme
The principal aim of this 40-hour (plus 2-hour open-book examination*) course is to equip delegates with the knowledge and skills required to perform audits of modern Quality Management Systems, in accordance with the Auditing Guidelines of ISO 19,011:2002. It consists of a series of lectures, role-play, case-study, and syndicate work and covers the following principal elements.



• Principles, concepts and understanding of Quality, Quality Systems and Quality Audits. Also the 8 Quality Management Principles.

• Quality Management System Requirements (ISO 9001-2008 also ISO 9004-2000).

• Documentation and interpretation.

• Principles, methodology, preparation and performance of the Quality Audit to the ISO 19,011:2002 Auditing Guidelines.

• Selection of the Audit sample, preparation of checklists and performance of Process Audits.

• Findings and statements of non-conformity.

• Audit reporting.

• Corrective and Preventive Action, Follow-up and Surveillance.

• Duties of an Auditor and Lead Auditor.

• The role of UKAS and requirements of the Registration Scheme in the UK operated by IQA/IRCA.



Who should attend?
The course is intended for personnel in any part of an organisation who are affected by quality audits. Practising and potential auditors of any quality management system, and external assessors of suppliers and contractors, will find the course particularly relevant, as will managers of companies being audited.

Participants should preferably have some experience of Quality Assurance and some understanding of Quality Systems, although the major clauses of the ISO 9001:2008 standard are thoroughly covered by the course. The ‘business systems audit’ approach is the basis used throughout.

This course is ideal for people intending to work as External Auditors (auditing suppliers) or those wishing to become third party Certification Auditors. Also managers of companies being audited! It is also useful for staff involved in the design, implementation and continual improvement of a QMS – whether as employees or external consultants.



Auditor/Lead Auditor Qualification
Our ‘2245’ course is registered by the IQA International Register of Certificated Auditors (IRCA) and meets the training requirements for individuals seeking registration as an Auditor/Principal Auditor/Lead Auditor under that scheme.

Our IRCA-registered certificate is awarded to delegates who satisfactorily complete the approved course examination. This Certificate will be evidence of meeting the training requirements of IRCA for auditing to the ‘2008’ standard.

This SQMC course also earns 120 IQA CPD points.

*The exam and IRCA Certificate is only necessary for those seeking Registered QMS-2000 Lead Auditor/Principal Auditor/Auditor/Provisional Auditor status
