Handling Conflict
Aims
A degree of conflict is present in many aspects of our lives. Your health can be greatly affected by how successfully you manage this. Some people thrive on conflict, whereas others try to avoid it. In order to interact well with others, you must be able to understand the nature of conflict and be able to handle it.
This one day personal and professional development course will enable you to handle conflict more effectively by:-
Understanding the nature of conflict and its sources
Understanding a range of approaches to dealing with conflict
Becoming aware of your own preferences for dealing with conflict
Evaluating how appropriate different strategies are
Structure
You will be encouraged to share your own experience of conflict; the group is used as a 'think-tank' to determine effective approaches to handling conflict. In addition to practical input on the nature of conflict and various strategies for dealing with it, you will complete a Conflict Styles Inventory, which is a psychometric instrument designed to identify your preferred approach to handling conflict and its effectiveness. This in turn enables you to produce a practical personal development plan. An in-depth case study allows you to examine how conflict may be resolved for the benefit of all concerned.
