Due to restructuring around four or so years ago Andrew Ltd closed their existing Training Dept which was local to Scotland & re-developed it under the Corporate Banner with backing. My own brief at that time was to re-create the Training Dept to a lean, cost-effective and efficient asset for our UK and European Business units (EAME). This was completed in part by a massive internal re-structure, within that brief was obviously to attempt to obtain good quality local providers.

Carnegie Enterprise (then trading as the blcc) secured a contract to design and deliver an innovative leadership and management development programme to 46 Lead Officers within Fife Council Development Services. Lead Officers provide the link between Team Leaders, delivery of service, colleagues and management and are pivotal to the cultural development of the service.
Launched in May 2006, the innovative “Lead Officer Development Programme” provided participants with an opportunity to obtain a management qualification as well as equipping all Lead Officers with the skills to become more effective and efficient in their role.

Scottish Borders Council
Scottish Borders Council regularly holds in-house training in PRINCE2. It is demanding stuff, with 20 hours of pre-course reading required, followed by an intensive two and a half days in the classroom before sitting a one hour exam.

Aberlour Child Care TrustI was already a PRINCE2 practitioner when I came to Aberlour having worked south of the border in local government where it was normal practice. I introduced some of the principles and ran in-house seminars for managers. I also modelled it in practice.
